Mine Senior Engineer

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Mining Engineer to join our Medium-Term Planning team. Reporting to the Manager Operations Planning, this role is responsible for coordinating 2 Year Mining Schedules for our Cloudbreak mine site and coordinating mine development projects and associated designs.
To be successful in this role, candidates must have strong interpersonal skills with both operational and technical teams, shorter and longer-term planning/Mine designing experience, and be able to articulate potential risks and opportunities within the planned works.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide and coordinate medium-term mine plans.
- Provide and coordinate mine designs, including pit designs, waste dump designs, and supporting infrastructure design
- Timely delivery of plans and schedules to meet internal delivery timelines.
- Liaise with support functions, including Decarb, Approvals, Geology, Geotechnical and Hydrogeology, to understand risks and opportunities to the operation and to enable the timely achievement of mining milestones.
- Coordination of multiple stakeholders in mine development projects to distribute resources effectively and meet critical deadlines for delivery.
- Lead and drive business improvement initiatives.
- Delivering product quality, pit progression, waste schedules, fleet requirements, cost estimations and other technical guidance as required.
- Mentor and train mine planning engineers.
- Identify risks and opportunities to the work produced.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or similar.
- Relevant experience gained as a mining engineer (5 years minimum).
- Advanced medium-term mine planning (3MP and 2YP) and mine design skills.
- Practical approach to engineering and design problems.
- Knowledge in open pit mining, preferably in iron ore.
- Computer proficiency (MS Office, Vulcan, Micromine,Power BI, Snowflake).
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with both operations and technical teams.
- Team orientation and strong ability to take initiative.
- Excellent communication/presentation skills with the ability to convey technical detail, potential risks, and opportunities within the planned works to a variety of stakeholders.
