Native Title Senior Advisor

Our Opportunity

 

Work Location:  Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

 

Roster:  Monday to Friday

 

Help shape the future of responsible land access and meaningful partnerships with Traditional Owners. As a Senior Advisor Native Title, you'll play a key role in supporting Fortescue's operations by providing expert advice on native title matters, ensuring compliance, and fostering respectful, long-term relationships with Native Title holders.

 

Working within our dedicated Native Title team as part of the broader First Nations function, you'll contribute to responsible project delivery while helping create positive outcomes for both Fortescue and the communities we work alongside.

Key Responsibilities

  • Upholding and improving the systems and processes Fortescue utilises to maintain compliance with its contractual and regulatory native title obligations.
  • Liaising with Government agencies in relation to the grant of tenure.
  • Monitoring compliance with payment provisions that exist within commercial land access agreements.
  • Engaging with internal business stakeholders to understand, and provide advice in relation to, native title requirements and related stakeholder engagement.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with native title parties, advisors and representatives.
  • Oversee the preparation of necessary documentation, including reports, and compliance records.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Knowledge of the Native Title Act 1993 and related concepts of Indigenous land law.
  • Understanding of core principles of land tenure and administration.
  • Preferred experience in a role related to native title and/or land administration compliance.
  • Confidence in aspects of financial administration.
  • Ability to work and communicated well within diverse teams, support colleagues, and engage across a complex organisation.
