Painter/Blaster
Our Opportunity
Work Location: Cloudbreak - Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.
Roster: 8D/6R - FIFO Ex Perth
Fortescue is seeking experienced Painter Blasters to support maintenance and project works at Cloudbreak within our Structural Integirty team. This role is responsible for abrasive blasting, surface preparation, and the application of industrial coating systems to ensure asset protection and compliance with quality and safety standards in a mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform abrasive blasting using sand, grit, shot, or other approved media to remove rust, scale, paint and contaminants
- Prepare surfaces through cleaning, masking, sanding, and priming to meet coating requirements
- Apply industrial coatings using spray equipment, brushes, or rollers in accordance with specifications
- Mix paints and coatings in line with manufacturer and project requirements
- Inspect surfaces before and after blasting and painting to ensure quality standards are achieved
- Operate and maintain blasting and painting equipment, including blast pots, compressors, hoses and spray guns
- Complete required QA/QC documentation, including Inspection Test Records, where applicable
- Comply with Fortescue health, safety, environmental and site procedures
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Painter Blaster role within mining, construction, or industrial environments
- Relevant Trade Certificate in Painting or equivalent
- Current Construction White Card
- Proven ability to operate blasting equipment, spray guns, and air compressors
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship
- Working at Heights and High Risk Work Licence (EWP) (desirable)
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence
