Preservation Coordinator

Our Opportunity

Work Location: Perth – Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people

Roster: Monday to Friday

At Fortescue, we are committed to delivering safe, sustainable and efficient operations by ensuring our assets are ready to perform when and where they are needed. We are seeking a Preservation Coordinator to play a critical role in safeguarding the integrity and readiness of materials and equipment across their lifecycle, supporting operational continuity and long-term asset performance.

Reporting within our Supply Chain and Asset Management environment, this position is responsible for governing and coordinating Fortescue's preservation framework, ensuring materials are preserved, maintained and managed in accordance with business requirements and asset management standards. Working closely with stakeholders across Inventory, Warehousing, Maintenance, Asset Management and Category Management, you will provide the oversight, governance and continuous improvement needed to minimise risk, optimise asset readiness and deliver value across our operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the end-to-end preservation operating model, ensuring alignment with asset management standards and business requirements.
  • Govern preservation scope, prioritisation, and compliance through a risk-based framework aligned to material criticality, value, demand, and lead time.
  • Maintain SAP as the system of record for preservation, ensuring accurate visibility of backlog, compliance status, and risk exposure across all in-scope materials.
  • Provide ongoing oversight of preservation execution, including contractor performance, quality of work, and adherence to defined scope and standards.
  • Maintain and improve preservation data integrity, including material ownership, preservation requirements, and master data quality within SAP.
  • Coordinate preservation planning and scheduling activities, ensuring alignment with site requirements, inventory movements, and operational priorities.
  • Engage and collaborate with Inventory, Warehousing, Asset Management, Maintenance, and Category Management to ensure preservation requirements are consistently applied across the asset lifecycle.
  • Monitor and report on preservation performance, including backlog, compliance, spend, and risk exposure, providing insights to support decision-making.
  • Identify and manage preservation risks impacting asset readiness, escalating issues where required to protect operational continuity.
  • Maintain preservation standards, procedures, and work instructions, ensuring alignment between required frequencies, risk profiles, and achievable execution models.
  • Provide governance input into procurement, storage practices, and repair workflows to ensure preservation requirements are embedded from material inception through to installation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in asset management, materials management, maintenance planning, or reliability engineering within a heavy industry environment.
  • Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management and asset integrity principles; experience with preservation or storage practices (desirable).
  • Experience working with SAP (MM/PM), including data management, planning, or maintenance processes.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional processes involving multiple stakeholders and operational interfaces.
  • Experience in contractor/vendor management and performance oversight.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to interpret data and identify risk trends.
  • Experience in governance, compliance, or assurance-driven environments (desirable).
  • Ability to develop and maintain standards, procedures, and operational frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across all organisational levels.
  • High attention to detail, with strong organisational and time management capability.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on sustaining and optimising operational processes.
