Our Opportunity

 

Work Location:  Perth CBD, Western Australia.  Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

 

Roster:  Monday to Friday.

 

Reporting to the Corporate Accounting Manager, this is a hands-on role which leads accounting processes for group revenue including revenue accounting and margin analysis, calculation and submission of royalties, management of the international cost accounting structure, finance integration with international operations as well as accounts receivable requirements.

 

The role is highly integrated with corporate, operations and external stakeholders with an international reach.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the preparation of royalties payments and accruals free of error or misstatement and being a key finance contact with internal and external parties
  • Custodian of the revenue model ensuring data accuracy, new sales and marketing invoicing mechanisms are appropriately supported and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assist team to process month end accounting entries for revenue and international business including review of entities to ensure trial balances are accurate and key results are adequately explained and understood
  • Support the preparation of monthly flash metrics for revenue and supporting the broader finance team with insight and commentary for management reporting
  • Support the maintenance of accounts receivable records to ensure aging is up to date, credits and collections are applied, uncollectible amounts are accounted for, miscellaneous differences are cleared and assist with processing of invoices and bank clearing
  • Review of balance sheet reconciliations to support the broader finance team
  • Support the development and mentorship of the members within the team
  • Other finance duties as required

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Demonstrated experience mentoring others
  • CA or CPA qualification and SAP experience essential
  • Systems mindset and revenue recognition exposure
  • Bulk commodity experience
  • Understanding of relevant accounting policy and experience implementing continuous improvement with a view to enhance compliance
  • Good attention to detail, reconciliation skills and good ability to liaise and communicate with stakeholders
