An exciting internal opportunity is available within Mines Operations for a Principal Risk and Assurance to help shape and strengthen risk management across the division. As a key member of the HSES team, you’ll work closely with leaders and teams across the business, providing trusted advice and practical solutions that support effective decision-making and operational outcomes. This is a great opportunity for an experienced risk professional looking to broaden their impact, build strong cross-functional relationships and contribute to the continued growth and success of Mines Operations. 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate risk workshops across Mines Operations, helping teams identify and effectively manage operational and emerging risks.
• Partner with leaders and key stakeholders to provide trusted risk advice and support confident, informed decision-making.
• Challenge and influence thinking around risk, ensuring emerging issues are identified early, communicated and appropriately managed.
• Strengthen critical controls by supporting their development, performance standards, effectiveness testing and material risk reviews.
• Drive continuous improvement across risk frameworks, processes and improvement plans to deliver practical and sustainable outcomes.
• Provide meaningful insights to senior leaders through clear, high-quality risk and assurance reporting that supports operational performance.

Qualifications and Experience

• 8+ years’ risk management experience within industry or professional services, ideally within mining, resources or a comparable operational environment.
• Relevant tertiary qualification, with professional risk management qualifications highly regarded, along with proficiency in risk management systems, Microsoft Office and AI tools.
• Proven experience developing, implementing and improving risk management frameworks, with a strong understanding of ISO 31000 and its practical application.
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate risk assessments and workshops, advise on critical controls and influence senior stakeholders on risk-based decision-making.
• Strong communication, relationship-building and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge thinking, provide trusted advice and present effectively to senior leaders.
• Highly analytical, adaptable and organised, with the ability to turn complex information into meaningful insights while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
