Roster:  Monday to Friday

The Principal Technical Assurance & Governance – Decarbonisation role provides independent technical assurance, governance leadership and practical coaching across Fortescue's decarbonisation portfolio. Working across engineering, operations and project delivery teams, you will help ensure complex decarbonisation initiatives are safely integrated, technically robust and aligned with governance requirements. This role supports informed decision-making through assurance stage gates, systems integration, requirements management and technical risk oversight, helping deliver a safe, compliant and high-performing future mining system.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead implementation and continuous improvement of the Decarbonisation Technical Assurance Framework across the portfolio
• Provide independent technical assurance by reviewing evidence, identifying gaps and challenging assumptions to support safe, compliant and effective project delivery
• Support assurance stage gates by assessing technical evidence, interface readiness, requirements, risks and outstanding decisions
• Maintain a whole-of-system view across fleet, energy, charging, infrastructure, digital and operational systems to drive integrated outcomes
• Lead interface and requirements management activities across multidisciplinary projects and stakeholders
• Develop and maintain governance standards, assurance tools, registers and technical documentation
• Facilitate technical reviews, structured problem-solving and cross-functional integration forums
• Provide trusted technical advice to project teams and governance forums on engineering, operational integration and performance assurance
• Identify, assess and escalate system-level technical, safety and operational risks
• Coach teams in practical assurance, governance and requirements management disciplines to improve delivery outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

• Engineering qualification with significant experience in mining, heavy industry, infrastructure, energy or other complex asset environments
• Extensive experience in technical assurance, engineering governance, design review, commissioning or operational readiness
• Well versed in the electrical safety legislation being WHSA and Mines regulations and the Electricity Act and the Electrical (Licensing) Regulations
• Strong understanding and use of the Australian standards pertaining to electrical equipment, DC systems, power electronics, insulation coordination and particularly AS3000
• Extensive knowhow in electrocution and arc flash risk management.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering, requirements management, interface management and evidence-based assurance
• Demonstrated ability to assess technical risks across integrated electrical, infrastructure, operational and control systems
• Experience interpreting technical documentation including specifications, Basis of Design, requirements and commissioning evidence
• Proven ability to facilitate technical discussions, simplify complex issues and support executive decision-making
• Experience working within complex, evolving project environments with sound judgement and a pragmatic approach.
