Join Fortescue's decarbonisation program as a Risk Advisor at Senior or Principal level, providing practical project risk management support across a fast-moving portfolio spanning green energy generation, energy storage, transmission, distribution, electrification, charging infrastructure, software systems and artificial intelligence.

You will partner with project teams and key stakeholders to identify and manage material risks early, support better project decisions and maintain clear line of sight from strategic objectives through to delivery. The role will suit an experienced project risk professional who can move confidently between facilitation, analysis, challenge, coaching, assurance and executive advice.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with project teams to establish and maintain fit-for-purpose risk registers across strategic, delivery, interface, commercial, technical, operational readiness and transition risks
• Facilitate risk workshops, reviews and decision discussions, converting uncertainty into clear actions, owners, time frames and escalation pathways
• Support projects through study, definition, execution, commissioning and operational readiness, aligned with phase, gate and governance requirements
• Provide constructive challenge on project assumptions, proposed controls, residual risk ratings, contingency considerations and treatment plans
• Monitor the portfolio for emerging and material risks, dependencies and common themes, escalating issues early and recommending practical responses
• Prepare concise risk insights, executive summaries and assurance reporting for project, portfolio and governance forums
• Provide risk analysis to support investment and delivery decisions, including qualitative, scenario and other quantitative techniques where appropriate
• Lead, champion and provide practical guidance on the Project Risk Management Standard across assigned decarbonisation projects and programs
• Coach project teams and risk champions to build ownership, accountability and consistent risk management capability
• Maintain accurate, compliant and decision-useful risk information in approved risk management platforms and reporting products, adapting quickly to changing priorities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Demonstrated experience in project risk management, preferably across energy and natural resources
• Experience in a consulting, assurance, advisory or equivalent client-facing environment
• Experience supporting complex multidisciplinary projects through multiple phases, preferably from early study or business case through execution and operational readiness
• 8 or more years of relevant experience, with demonstrated leadership of risk on major or complex projects
• Strong understanding of project risk frameworks, including risk identification and assessment, controls, treatments, assurance, governance, escalation and reporting
• Sound judgement in assessing residual risk, including future-phase risks and mitigations that are planned but not yet fully evidenced or implemented
• Strong analytical, commercial, problem-solving and communication skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and work with ambiguity
• Ability to build trusted relationships with project teams, technical specialists, executives, contractors and external advisers
• Degree qualification in engineering, project management, business, risk management or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
• Risk management certification or professional membership, such as Risk Management Institute of Australasia (RMIA), and experience with risk quantification and modelling would be advantageous.
