An exciting opportunity is available for a Project Geologist to join our Resource Definition team at Christmas Creek Operations.
Reporting to the Senior Resource Definition Geologist, you will play an important role in supporting resource definition programs, geological interpretation and data management while contributing to the continued development of our geological understanding.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate leadership and role model Fortescue’s safety values and behaviours.
- Manage geological and assay data workflows, including internal QAQC, data collection and validation.
- Complete geological interpretations using Leapfrog, Vulcan and ArcGIS to support resource definition modelling and advance geological understanding.
- Prepare accurate technical reports and deliver high-quality geological data and information to stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement across Resource Definition processes, systems and workflows.
- Support the planning and delivery of resource definition drilling programs and field validation activities.
- Maintain current knowledge of geological database and modelling systems and provide recommendations for improvement where appropriate.
- Support the Senior Resource Definition Geologist in achieving team, project and company objectives.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders across different disciplines and backgrounds.
Qualifications and Experience
- A tertiary qualification in Geology, Earth Sciences or a related discipline, such as a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
- Relevant industry experience, preferably within mining and metals, drilling, exploration, or oil and gas.
- Experience across one or more geological disciplines, which may include mine geology, exploration, planning and scheduling, resource definition or program management.
- Experience with geological modelling, interpretation and/or data management.
- Project management experience is highly regarded but not essential.
- Eligibility to work in Australia.
- A current Class C manual WA driver’s licence.
