Refrigeration Technician (NPI)
Work Location: Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.
Roster: 8/6 FIFO ex Perth
Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.
Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, this position is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality planned and reactive maintenance to support the effective operation of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, and associated cooling systems, including HV HME fast charger chiller systems and NPI assets.
Infrastructure Services maintains assets across the entire mine site operation and camp facilities including, but not limited to: accommodation buildings, offices, workshops, MAL laboratories, fuel storage facilities, waste and potable water treatment plants, high-voltage charging infrastructure, and emerging NPI technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Relevant experience in mining or heavy industry
- Experience with air conditioning split systems
- Experience maintaining and fault-finding air-conditioning systems, closed-circuit water chillers, HV HME fast charger chiller units, ice machines, and associated cooling plant, including repair and replacement
- Support maintenance and commissioning activities on NPI assets and new technologies as deployed on site
- Demonstrated ability to identify, troubleshoot, and repair plant including HVAC systems, complex HVAC systems, and industrial chiller systems
- Experience using Microsoft Office and SAP operating systems
- Knowledge of applicable legislation, Australian Standards, and ARCTICK codes of conduct
Qualifications and Experience

- MEM30205 Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Refrigeration/Air Conditioning)
- Current WA Restricted Electrical Licence
- Current Refrigerant Handling Licence (RAC01 – Full Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Licence)
- Senior First Aid / CPR
- WA Class C Driver’s Licence
- Hydrocarbon refrigerant training (TAFE) – preferred but not essential
Skills and Attributes
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including report writing
- Ability to time-manage, organise, and prioritise workload
- Flexibility to work across a wide range of refrigeration disciplines, including high-voltage charging support infrastructure
- Competent in reading technical manuals, plans, and schematics
- Sound problem-solving skills
