Our Opportunity

 

Work Location: Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples 

 

Roster: 8D6O FIFO ex Perth
 
Cloudbreak is a well-established and active operation supporting both our 2-Year Plan and Life of Mine strategy, with ongoing near-mine exploration to grow our resource inventory. With multiple RC drill rigs in operation, this role plays a key part in delivering high-quality resource definition outcomes.


This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic field environment, contributing to both grade control and near-mine exploration drilling programs, maintaining strong safety standards, and supporting continuous improvement across operations.


You’ll be part of a collaborative and safety-focused team, with the chance to apply your technical expertise while further developing your skills in iron ore geology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture through visible field leadership
  • Monitoring safety compliance in the field
  • Supervising Reverse Circulation (RC) drill rigs on a daily basis
  • Managing day-to-day drilling activities and campaigns
  • Logging RC chips to a high standard
  • Ensuring sample quality and integrity on the rigs
  • Contributing ideas and experience to support continuous improvement and innovation
  • Working in line with Fortescue’s HSES and OH&S policies, procedures, and reporting requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • A strong commitment to safety and alignment with Fortescue Values
  • A tertiary qualification in Geoscience
  • Experience supervising or managing drill rigs
  • Knowledge of iron ore mineralogy, with experience logging iron ore
  • Familiarity with Marra Mamba geology and mineralisation styles (desirable)
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A current C Class manual driver’s licence
