Work Location: Perth Office - Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

 

 

Roster:  Monday to Friday

 

 

An opportunity exists for a Resource Estimation Geologist to join the Estimation Geology team in the Exploration department working on our projects in Australia and Gabon. The position is responsible for the production of high-quality mineral resource estimates, working collaboratively within the team.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure data quality through robust data validation and analysis
  • Generate geological interpretations suitable for resource modelling
  • Deliver high-quality mineral resource models on time and fit for use
  • Collaborate with the exploration, resource definition and technical services teams
  • Contribute to a team culture of continuous improvement aligned with Fortescue’s values.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Degree in geology
  • Proven industry experience in exploration and/or mining geology
  • Geological modelling and resource estimation experience preferable
  • Understanding of mineralising systems and stratigraphy of iron ore deposits
  • Relevant experience working on iron ore deposits
  • Excellent understanding of good sampling practices and QAQC
  • Exposure to geological database packages, data interpretation and reporting
  • Knowledge of geostatistics and estimation techniques
  • Working knowledge of geological modelling software (Vulcan and/or Leapfrog)
  • Highly motivated with excellent communication and engagement skills and an attention to detail.
