The Senior, Sustainability Disclosures & Governance is an independent delivery role (typically 5–8+ years’ relevant experience) working closely with the Manager and Principal to coordinate inputs, maintain evidence trails, and align both quantitative and non-quantitative sustainability information (“data and story”) for disclosure and performance management purposes. The role requires hands-on capability in Workiva, Atticus and Anaplan (or comparable platforms), deep understanding of sustainability data, and a mining operating risk lens. An understanding of how to translate plans into measurable performance targets and conduct internal performance reporting, including dashboard development and time-series analysis. The role will coordinate input to support the objective of the Sustainability Microsite, website and other digital requirements specifically providing approved data for public use. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead delivery of assigned sustainability workpacks (data, systems, website and dashboards, evidence), including managing inputs, evidence, and quality checks to meet agreed timelines and approval requirements.
  • Operate and maintain controlled sustainability workflows in Workiva, Atticus and Anaplan (or equivalent): workflow routing, permissions, version control, linking/roll-forward support, and evidence capture.
  • Engage data owners to obtain sustainability metrics and explanations required for assigned sustainability disclosure workpacks, including boundary notes and methodology updates.
  • Conduct data quality checks (reconciliations, reasonableness checks, trend review) and coordinate resolution of anomalies with owners.
  • Engage content owners to gather and quality-check non-quantitative inputs on sustainability related topics (governance, risk approach, strategy, controls, initiatives, progress updates, case studies) in plain language and aligned to agreed messaging.
  • Liaise with Communications on sustainability content governance and updates for all public information on sustainability.
  • Develop and maintain the internal sustainability dashboard workpack (metric definitions, data validation, performance commentary) and deliver time-series analysis (trends, drivers of change, data quality flags).
  • Maintain sustainability disclosure governance: documented sources, signoffs/approvals, and records suitable for assurance/audit scrutiny.
  • Apply a mining operating risk lens—identify and respond to inconsistencies  linked to measurement , estimation methods, operational variability, boundary changes, and incidents/events.
  • Apply and document alignment to sustainability standards/frameworks: GRI, ICMM, ISSB/AASB, TNFD.
  • Coordinate sustainability ratings/indices workpacks and consistency checks with disclosures (e.g., CDP, S&P Global) including evidence collation and response coordination.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement (templates, checklists, contributor guidance, stronger controls to reduce rework).

 

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Tertiary qualification in Sustainability, Environment, Engineering, Business Data, or Science.
  • 5–8+ years’ experience in sustainability topic data collection, reporting, disclosures/governance, assurance support, data governance (including environmental, workforce community, and data governance).
  • Deep understanding of sustainability topic (boundaries, baselines, intensity metrics, conversions, estimation approaches, data lineage) and ability to explain movements and drivers.
  • Strong understanding of current and emerging sustainability disclosure standards/frameworks: GRI, ICMM, ISSB/AASB, TNFD
  • Understanding of resources/mining operating risk and controls and how these affect disclosure quality (data and narrative).
  • Experience supporting governance and reporting discipline in a publicly listed Australian environment (or similar).
  • Strong written communication and stakeholder engagement skills; advanced Excel.
    Beneficial: dashboarding tools (e.g., Power BI) and trend/time-series analysis.
