Fortescue is accelerating its decarbonisation ambitions through the application of AI across both Metals and Energy. As part of the Core Decarb AI team, the Senior Business Analyst - AI will play a key role in identifying, shaping and delivering AI and automation use cases that directly support Fortescue’s decarbonisation strategy.

This role blends structured business analysis with hands-on technical capability. You will work across operational, technology and leadership stakeholders to translate business challenges into deployable AI solutions. You will support existing AI initiatives, lead selected new use cases, develop MVPs, and contribute to governance and executive decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, assess and prioritise AI use cases aligned to decarbonisation objectives
• Design and build MVP solutions using Python (or similar), workflow automation tools or GenAI capabilities to rapidly test concept
• Collaborate closely with AI engineers, data engineers and platform teams to transition validated MVPs into production solutions
• Translate business problems into structured problem statements, measurable success criteria and technical requirements
• Lead workshops and stakeholder engagements to capture current-state processes, data availability and solution constraints
• Develop business cases and value hypotheses to support investment and prioritisation decisions
• Support architecture discussions by articulating functional requirements, data dependencies and integration considerations
• Prepare clear and structured materials for executive and governance forums including status updates, risk assessments, decision papers and roadmap views
• Act as a translator between technical AI teams and non-technical business stakeholders to drive shared understanding and adoption.

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience in Business Analysis, Product, Consulting or Delivery roles, ideally within data, digital or AI-enabled environments
• Demonstrated ability to structure ambiguous problems into clear use cases and delivery plans
• Hands-on experience developing prototypes using Python, SQL, data analysis tools (or similar) or GenAI platforms
• Working knowledge of AI and machine learning concepts including LLMs, prompt engineering, embeddings and automation workflows
• Experience working with cloud-based data environments or AI platforms such as AWS, Azure or similar
• Strong stakeholder engagement capability across operational, technical and executive audiences
• Experience preparing governance materials and presenting to senior leadership forums
• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent practical experience.
