We're looking for an experienced Contracts & Procurement Specialist to join our Major Project Studies team, where you'll play a key role in developing commercial strategies that support some of our most significant growth projects.

 

Working alongside multidisciplinary project teams, you'll provide specialist procurement, tendering and contract management expertise to help deliver safe, efficient and value-driven project outcomes from the earliest stages of development.

 

Reporting to the Lead Contracts & Procurement, you'll partner with engineering, project, legal and commercial stakeholders to develop fit-for-purpose contracting strategies that support successful project studies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop contracting and procurement strategies aligned with project objectives, schedule and commercial outcomes.
  • Provide specialist advice on contract models, packaging strategies, market engagement and supplier selection.
  • Prepare and implement Procurement and Contracting Plans.
  • Develop, coordinate and manage tender processes from market engagement through to evaluation and award.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and conditions, including pricing and risk allocation.
  • Prepare clear, comprehensive and commercially robust contract and procurement documentation.
  • Provide end-to-end contract administration support throughout project execution.
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities while driving value and cost efficiencies.
  • Support contract correspondence, notices and compliance requirements.
  • Review construction programs and assess extension of time claims.
  • Maintain procurement and contract records and reporting.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior team members.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to deliver successful project outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience (7+ years) in contract administration, procurement or commercial roles within mining, resources, infrastructure or major projects.
  • Strong understanding of procurement, tendering and contract administration processes.
  • Experience developing procurement strategies and managing competitive tender processes.
  • Sound commercial negotiation skills and experience managing contractual risk.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, project delivery methodologies and extension of time claims.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to prepare high-quality commercial documentation.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
  • High attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Law, Commerce, Engineering or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
