Fortescue is accelerating its decarbonisation ambitions through advanced AI, real-time telemetry and intelligent automation across its asset base. As part of the Core Decarb AI team, the Senior Data & Integration Engineer will design and implement real-time, event-driven data platforms that unify video metadata, asset telemetry and operational system events into scalable, production-grade analytics and AI solutions.
This senior technical role designs and builds low-latency, event-driven architectures enabling real-time monitoring, anomaly detection and automated operational decision support. You will develop streaming pipelines and pub/sub patterns, deliver curated analytics-ready data models, ensure data quality and observability, and provide dashboards and structured event outputs that support continuous HME health visibility and system performance across edge and cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop streaming pipelines to ingest video metadata, asset telemetry and operational system events into scalable, production-grade analytics pipeline
- Develop pub/sub patterns using MQTT, Kafka or comparable streaming technologies
- Leverage Snowflake to deliver curated, analytics-ready data models
- Apply real-time analytics for scoring and anomaly detection
- Publish structured events to downstream systems such as maintenance platforms, dispatch systems and work order tools
- Implement data quality monitoring and alerting to identify telemetry gaps, latency issues and ingestion failures
- Design and maintain dashboards and visualisations that provide continuous HME health visibility, contextual alerting, explainability and system observability.
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong experience designing and building real-time or near real-time data platforms in high-volume industrial, mining, energy or operational environments
- Strong hands-on expertise with MQTT, Kafka or comparable event streaming and pub/sub technologies
- Proven capability working with large-scale datasets
- Experience designing structured and curated data models in Snowflake or comparable cloud data platforms
- Experience with time-series data processing and technologies
- Advanced Python and SQL development skills for data engineering, API development, integration services and stream processing workflows
- Familiarity with AWS infrastructure and cloud-native data architectures
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
