Senior Finance Officer
Our Opportunity
Work Location: Perth, Western Australia. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday.
Reporting directly to the Corporate Accounting Manager, this role will be primarily responsible for revenue and accounts receivable processing and bank clearing. You will play a key role and work closely with internal stakeholders and a dynamic and exciting global Finance team.
To be successful in this role you will need a keen eye for detail and ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accounts receivable records to ensure aging is up to date, credits and collections are applied, uncollectible amounts are accounted for, and miscellaneous differences are cleared
- Perform regular bank clearing accounting entries, including identification of transactions and the appropriate treatment
- Prepare manual invoices to external parties in line with delegation of authority, jurisdictional requirements for tax and regulatory purposes
- Prepare intercompany invoices in line with delegation of authority, group policy, transfer pricing and accounting concepts
- Collect, verify and process non-trade invoicing relating to towage services and other
- Daily variance analysis of issued trade invoices to shipping data and revenue systems including resolving issues that are detected
- Preparation of intercompany reconciliations to support the broader finance team
- Preparation of accounts receivable aging analysis on a monthly basis, including follow up and resolution of outstanding amounts
- Key point of contact for all accounts receivable queries
- Provision of support to clear and make accounting adjustments to support Accounts Payable function
- Other finance duties as required
Qualifications and Experience
- 10+ years experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable or other finance processing capacity
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills are a must
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to work within tight deadlines
