Our Opportunity

 

Work Location:  Perth. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

 

Roster:  Monday to Friday.

 

We are seeking a commercially astute and strategic Senior Management Accountant (Senior Finance Business Partner) to join our finance team. This role combines strong technical management accounting capability with high-level business partnering across operational and leadership teams.

 

You will play a critical role in driving financial performance, leading budgeting and forecasting processes, and providing strategic insight to support informed decision-making. This position offers the opportunity to influence operational outcomes, identify value-creation opportunities, and serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders across the business.


Key Responsibilities

 

• Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, including detailed variance analysis and performance insights
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes
• Partner with senior operational leaders to influence financial and commercial outcomes
• Provide strategic financial modelling, scenario analysis, and business case evaluation
• Identify risks, opportunities, and cost optimisation initiatives to improve business performance
• Support capital investment appraisal and major project financial oversight
• Strengthen financial governance, controls, and reporting frameworks
• Mentor and support junior finance team members where applicable
• Build and maintain strong relationships with site-based teams, including periodic travel to operational sites

Qualifications and Experience

 

In order to be successful in this role, you will need to be commercially driven, confident in engaging with senior stakeholders, and capable of translating complex financial data into clear and actionable insights.  You'll bring strong leadership presence and enjoy operating in a dynamic, operationally focused environment.

 

Essential:
• CA / CPA / ACCA qualified
• 5+ years’ experience in management accounting, commercial finance, or business partnering
• Strong financial modelling and analytical capability
• Advanced Excel skills (experience with BI tools highly regarded)
• Demonstrated experience partnering with senior operational stakeholders
• Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills

 

Desirable:
• Experience in [industry – e.g., mining, infrastructure, energy, manufacturing]
• Experience in capital-intensive or complex operational environments
• ERP system experience (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Pronto, etc.)
