Our Opportunity
Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday - Friday
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Mining Engineer to join our Medium-Term Planning team. Reporting to the Superintendent of Medium Term Planning, this role is responsible for coordinating 2 Year Mining Schedules and associated pit, waste, and development designs for our Christmas Creek mine site.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop two-year mine plans that align with operational and strategic requirements.
- Deliver mine plans and schedules accurately and within agreed timelines.
- Partner with Approvals, Geology, Geotechnical and Hydrogeology teams to identify risks, opportunities and dependencies.
- Coordinate stakeholders and resources across mine development projects to achieve key milestones.
- Communicate mine planning options, designs and schedules clearly to operational and technical stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance on product quality, pit progression, waste schedules, fleet requirements and cost estimates.
- Identify risks and opportunities within mine planning outputs and recommend appropriate actions.
- Mentor and develop Mine Planning Engineers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in mine planning.
- Demonstrated proficiency using Vulcan, Haul Infinity and Rapid Reserver.
- Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills.
- High level of computer literacy, including Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with operational and technical stakeholders.
- Collaborative team player who demonstrates initiative and works effectively with minimal supervision.
