Roster: 8 Days On / 6 Days Off – FIFO ex Perth

 

Chichester OPF Engineering & Reliability is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join the Christmas Creek team. This role provides technical leadership for process engineering at the CC OPF, while managing a small team of Process Engineers and Metallurgical Technicians.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and embed safety improvements aligned with Fortescue’s goal of zero harm
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching and technical guidance with the Process Engineers and Metallurgical Technicians
  • Deliver plant troubleshooting and optimisation initiatives to improve throughput, recovery and product quality
  • Support planned and unplanned shutdown activities, including scope development, execution support and post-shutdown review
  • Oversee metallurgical laboratory operations, sampling programs and test work
  • Ensure integrity and continuous improvement of production and quality reporting systems
  • Analyse and interpret metallurgical and process data to inform operational and strategic decision-making
  • Interface effectively with Operations, Maintenance, Mine Planning, Strategic Planning and external contractors/consultants
  • Identify, scope and drive improvement projects to optimise plant performance and reliability

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Schedule 26 Law Exam (Mandatory)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, coaching and guidance to engineers and technicians in an operational processing environment
  • Experience in dry and wet mineral processing operations within large-scale processing plants
  • Strong understanding of metallurgical laboratory operations and testing methodologies
  • Proficiency in metallurgical accounting, including mass and water balancing
  • High level of computer literacy, including process data historian, SAP and data visualisation platforms such as Tableau
  • Solid understanding of production and maintenance strategies in an operational processing environment
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques applied to metallurgical and process data
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence across multidisciplinary teams
