Senior Risk Advisor

Roster: 4D/3R (FIFO or residential options available)
We are seeking a Senior Risk Advisor to implement and embed Fortescue’s risk management framework across Hedland Operations. The role is practical, site-based, and focused on improving how risks and controls are defined, tested, and managed at the frontline.
You will work directly with operational leaders and frontline teams to ensure material risks are accurately captured, controls are clearly specified, and control verification activities are completed to standard. The role requires consistent coaching of Risk Owners and Control Owners to lift capability and drive disciplined risk practices across site.
We’re looking for someone who is effective in operational environments, confident running workshops and capable of driving measurable improvement in risk and control performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and embed Fortescue’s risk management framework across Hedland Operations, ensuring risks and controls are clearly defined, current, and aligned to standards.
- Facilitate risk workshops and support Risk Owners and Control Owners to complete material risk reviews, control development, and control effectiveness testing.
- Monitor and verify compliance with CCVs, CETs and MRRs, ensuring issues, failures, and trends are identified and escalated.
- Provide accurate, practical risk advice to operational leaders to support day-to-day decision-making and improvement planning.
- Drive data quality and completeness in CGR, ensuring risk and control records are maintained to an auditable standard.
- Identify gaps in risk processes or control design and coordinate remediation actions with operational teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in operational risk, safety risk management, or similar roles within mining, resources, industrial operations or major hazard environments.
- Demonstrated experience applying or improving risk frameworks within operational settings.
- Strong facilitation skills, particularly in risk workshops and frontline coaching.
- Proven capability in analysing complex information to develop meaningful insights and recommendations.
- High level of resilience, professional objectivity, and ability to influence leaders and teams.
- Tertiary qualification in safety, engineering, business, or similar (desirable).
- Professional risk management qualification (desirable).
- Experience using risk management systems and strong proficiency in MS Office (desirable).
