Fortescue’s Custom Solutions team is growing, and we are seeking an experienced Senior Test Analyst to ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable software solutions that support critical operational functions across the business.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a quality-focused professional who can drive testing excellence, develop robust test strategies, and mentor junior team members while collaborating closely with cross-functional product and development teams.

 

As a Senior Test Analyst / Senior Quality Analyst, you will lead the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of testing activities across our software product ecosystem. You will play a key role in ensuring that applications meet business requirements, function reliably, and deliver a seamless user experience.

 

You will design and execute comprehensive test plans, work with developers and product teams to resolve defects, and apply best-practice testing methodologies to enhance quality across the SDLC.

 

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of software testing processes, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to provide guidance and mentorship within a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute detailed test plans, defining scope, objectives, and testing strategies based on project and product requirements.
  • Ensure test coverage across functional, regression, integration, and performance testing activities.
  • Create, review, and maintain comprehensive test cases and scripts to ensure effective and traceable test coverage.
  • Conduct thorough manual and automated testing activities to validate application functionality.
  • Document results and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify, log, and track defects using appropriate tools (e.g., JIRA).
  • Collaborate closely with developers to ensure timely and effective defect resolution.
  • Work closely with business analysts, developers, and product owners to translate requirements into clear testable outcomes.
  • Contribute to QA alignment within Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
  • Recommend improvements to testing processes, tools, and frameworks.
  • Assist in uplifting testing maturity and advocating for best practices across the team.
  • Support the adoption of automation frameworks and CI/CD testing approaches.
  • Assess test results and provide informed recommendations on product readiness.
  • Highlight risks and quality concerns, ensuring they are understood and addressed prior to release.
  • Maintain high-quality documentation for test cases, test results, defect logs, and testing processes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or relevant experience).
  • Certifications in testing, programming, or cloud services are highly regarded but not required.
  • 5+ years’ experience in software testing or quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior or lead testing capacity.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles (Agile, Waterfall).
  • Experience with testing tools and frameworks such as Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, JIRA, or similar.
  • Some hands-on experience with databases (MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB) for data validation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with excellent attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate quality issues.
  • Proficiency in test case design methodologies and test management tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Excellent time management and organisational abilities.
  • Good understanding of functional, regression, UAT, and performance testing methods.
  • Awareness of automation frameworks (Selenium, Cypress) is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and testing within DevOps workflows.
  • Understanding of REST APIs, web services, and tools such as Postman or SoapUI.
  • Knowledge of data formats (JSON, XML, SOAP, REST) for test validation.
