Our Opportunity

 

Work Location: Iron Bridge – Fortescue's Iron Bridge operation is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.

 

Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth

 

Reporting to the Shutdown Superintendent, this is a critical leadership role responsible for the safe planning and execution of large-scale shutdowns within Fortescue's technically complex Iron Bridge magnetite operation.

Leading major 240-hour and modular 288-hour shutdowns involving up to 1,200 personnel, you will coordinate multi-discipline maintenance, projects and inspection activities to maximise plant availability, asset reliability and production performance.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced shutdown professional who thrives in high-pressure environments and is passionate about delivering safe, efficient and high-quality shutdown outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Plan shutdowns in line with the 16-week planning rhythm, partnering closely with Asset Owners, Maintenance Planning and Shutdown Scheduling teams.
  • Develop resource requirements, engage vendor partners and coordinate contractor mobilisation for successful shutdown delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors and service providers.
  • Challenge shutdown scope, resource allocation and execution strategies to minimise downtime and optimise plant availability.
  • Align shutdown activities with asset management strategies while identifying defect elimination and reliability improvement opportunities.
  • Lead contractor performance, ensuring work is completed safely, to the required quality standards and in accordance with the approved schedule.
  • Deliver accurate shutdown reporting, post-shutdown reviews and lessons learned while championing standardisation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale shutdowns within complex fixed plant processing operations.
  • Proven ability to coordinate large contractor workforces across multiple disciplines.
  • Strong planning, organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to perform effectively in high-pressure, time-critical environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
  • Proficiency in SAP and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience within a magnetite processing operation or similarly complex minerals processing environment will be highly regarded.
  • Mechanical or Electrical trade qualification highly regarded.
