The Superintendent – Platform Engineering and Release is a senior engineering leadership role responsible for leading the Platform Engineering and Release Management functions across Autonomy delivery. This role provides strategic and technical leadership to ensure engineering platforms, release governance, configuration management, environments and deployment processes support the safe, reliable and efficient delivery of the Autonomous Haulage System. Working closely with cross-functional engineering teams, the role drives continuous improvement through automation, robust engineering practices and high-performing platforms that enable quality outcomes and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Platform Engineering and Release Management functions across Autonomy delivery
- Own and continuously improve the release governance framework, ensuring releases are planned, approved, communicated and deployed safely
- Lead the DevOps and Platform Engineering teams responsible for CI/CD, build automation, deployment automation and engineering tooling
- Oversee platforms supporting source control, configuration management, release governance, workflow automation and engineering reporting
- Ensure software, firmware, hardware, builds, environments and deployment artefacts are controlled, versioned and fully traceable
- Establish and maintain development, integration, verification, SIL, HIL, staging, site and production-like environments
- Drive adoption of engineering tools and automation that improve delivery efficiency, quality and developer productivity
- Monitor and improve release readiness, deployment success, configuration compliance and platform performance
- Provide technical leadership to balance engineering quality, operational risk and delivery objectives
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and engineering excellence.
Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive experience in complex engineering or mission-critical hardware and software environments
- Proven leadership experience across platform engineering, DevOps, release engineering or configuration management
- Strong understanding of release governance, CI/CD, change control, traceability and baseline management
- Experience managing engineering platforms, automation frameworks and developer tooling
- Demonstrated experience with development, integration, verification, SIL, HIL, staging and production-like environments
- Strong knowledge of systems engineering and systems integration principles
- Experience implementing configuration management practices across complex engineering environments
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement and people management skills
- Strong technical judgement with the ability to balance quality, operational risk and delivery outcomes
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline is desirable.
