Our Opportunity

 

Work Location: Cloudbreak - Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.

 

Roster: 8 Days / 6 Off Perth FIFO

 

Reporting to the Autonomy Coordinator and Autonomy Supervisor, the Trades Assistant – Autonomy Operations provides site-based operational, logistical, and installation support to the Autonomy team. This role supports the preparation, staging, movement, and installation of autonomy technology and equipment, assists with Light Vehicle and Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) activities under supervision, and ensures inventory, consumables, and facilities are maintained to support safe and efficient operations. The position is hands-on and field-focused, combining materials coordination with practical assistance to autonomy installation, testing, and commissioning activities, while maintaining strict adherence to Fortescue safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

 

Assist with kit preparation, staging, packing, and mobilisation of autonomy equipment
Support inventory and consumable management
Assist technicians with installation, movement, testing, and commissioning of Light Vehicle systems and HME
Support safe movement, loading, and unloading of equipment
Perform general facility maintenance and administrative support
Maintain accurate inventory and equipment records
Comply with Fortescue safety systems and procedures
Participate in safety meetings and risk assessments
Identify and report hazards and incidents
Undertake additional duties as directed

Qualifications and Experience

 

Experience in field-based operational support or trades assistance
Exposure to autonomy systems, Light Vehicle equipment, or technology-based mining environments (desirable)
Experience with materials handling, inventory control, or site logistics (desirable)
Basic understanding of equipment handling and installation support
Knowledge of inventory, consumable management, and material staging
Awareness of risks associated with manual handling and mobile equipment
Competent in kit preparation and staging
Forklift Licence (LF) (Desirable)
HME or machinery operation tickets (Desirable)
