Our Opportunity

Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

As a Train Controller, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Fortescue's rail network. Working within a fast-paced operational environment, you will coordinate train movements, optimise network performance and collaborate with key stakeholders across the business to safely deliver rail operations while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely coordinate train movements across the rail network to maximise operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance teams and contractors to optimise track availability while facilitating planned maintenance activities.
  • Develop and maintain accurate train graphs and operational records, ensuring information is current and communicated effectively.
  • Liaise with mine and port stakeholders to coordinate train scheduling and product delivery requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve train control processes and escalate improvement initiatives to enhance network performance.
  • Provide visible safety leadership while coaching and mentoring team members to build capability and maintain operational excellence.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience working as a Train Controller within a rail operations environment.
  • Strong knowledge of manual and electronic train control systems.
  • Sound understanding of rail radio communication protocols and Safe Working Procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence positive outcomes.
  • Strong computer literacy, planning and organisational skills, with a focus on safety and continuous improvement.
