Our Opportunity
Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: 4D 3R FIFO from Perth
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Trainer and Assessor to join our mining team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, delivering, and assessing training programs for our mining workforce, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations, and supporting the development of a skilled and competent workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and deliver training programs for Drill and Blast personnel, including operators, Shotfirers and supervisors, in line with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct competency assessments and evaluations to ensure that Drill and Blast personnel possess the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively and safely.
- Provide coaching and support to Drill and Blast personnel to address skill gaps and facilitate continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify training needs and develop tailored training solutions to address specific requirements.
- Maintain accurate training records and documentation, including training plans, assessments and certifications, in compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and recommend improvements or modifications as necessary to enhance outcomes and achieve organisational objectives.
- Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous learning within the mining team, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent qualification in education, training, or related field.
- Previous experience in a similar role within the Drill and Blast industry, with a focus on training and competency assessment.
- Solid understanding of Drill and Blast operations, equipment, and safety practices, with experience in surface mining preferred.
- Current and valid WA C-Class driver’s licence, as a minimum.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver effective training programs and assessments, tailored to the needs of adult learners.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing training needs
