Role: Condition Monitoring – Wear Management (Entry Level)
Location: Port Hedland Operations
Roster: 8 Days On / 6 Days Off – FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Port Hedland

Fortescue is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Condition Monitoring Tech – Wear Management to join our Port Hedland Condition Monitoring team.
This entry-level role is ideal for someone with a mechanical or electrical background who is looking to build a career in asset reliability and wear management. You will support condition monitoring activities across critical Port Hedland fixed plant and materials handling assets, identifying wear mechanisms and early indicators of failure to help extend asset life and reduce unplanned downtime.
You will be supported through on-the-job training and mentoring while working alongside experienced Condition Monitoring and Reliability professionals in a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with condition monitoring inspections across Port Hedland fixed plant and port assets, with a strong focus on wear management
- NDT and thickness inspections to identify wear, corrosion and degradation mechanisms
- Collect, analyse and trend condition monitoring data to identify emerging defects and asset health risks
- Assist with the preparation of reports and communicate findings and recommended actions to Maintenance, Operations and Engineering teams
- Identify and recommend changes to wear liner specs to increase asset service life
- Managing wear liner and chute product trials
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotes and develop liner improvements
- Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and other reliability investigations as required
- Maintain and update condition monitoring systems and databases, including MHM, ALS Webtrieve and PDS
- Support the installation, inspection and basic maintenance of wear monitoring systems
- Work safely at all times and contribute to Fortescue’s strong safety-first culture
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a fixed plant or heavy industrial environment (essential)
- Ultrasonic Thickness Inspection UT Level I (essential)
- Mechanical maintenance background (essential)
- Broad knowledge and experience in wear liner / chute maintenance and inspections (advantageous)
- Strong interest in wear management, asset reliability and condition monitoring
- Competent basic use of SAP/Fiori functions. Includes completing vehicle pre-starts, raising quality notifications and sub-notifications, entering correct time confirmations.
- Good attention to detail, a proactive learning mindset and effective communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to working safely and respectfully
