Our Opportunity

Work Location: Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.

 

Roster: 8D/6R/7N/7R FIFO ex Perth or Residential Port Hedland

 

Join Fortescue’s Port Mechanical team as a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter and help keep critical port infrastructure running safely and reliably. Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll carry out planned and breakdown maintenance across fixed plant, working on equipment such as conveyors, train unloaders, sample stations and balance machines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out mechanical maintenance to keep plant and equipment operating effectively.
  • Respond to fixed plant breakdowns, diagnose faults and complete repairs.
  • Investigate equipment issues and support actions to improve plant reliability.
  • Identify plant defects and raise maintenance notifications for repair.
  • Complete online inspections of plant areas and equipment.
  • Maintain and inspect conveyors, train unloaders, sample stations and balance machines.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Mechanical trade or engineering qualification.
  • Experience in fixed plant maintenance; significant conveyor maintenance experience is highly regarded.
  • Confident using computerised maintenance systems, including SAP, and Microsoft Project.
  • Able to develop risk assessments and work documents, including CRAWs, JHAs and SWMS.
  • Strong communication, organisation and time management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Safety-focused team player who works well across departments and is committed to zero harm.
