Our Opportunity
Work Location: Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.
Roster: 13D/15R - FIFO ex Perth
Fortescue is seeking an experienced Haulage Operator Advanced to join our Rail Civil Maintenance team at Hedland Operations.
In this role, you will support the wider Rail Network Maintenance Department by safely transporting earthmoving and rail maintenance machinery across the Fortescue rail network. Working remotely and often independently, you will be responsible for the safe loading, restraint, transport and unloading of equipment while ensuring compliance with fatigue management, mass management and Chain of Responsibility requirements.
This is an opportunity for an experienced heavy haul operator who takes pride in safe operations, communicates effectively and can confidently manage their workload with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely load, transport, deliver and unload earthmoving and rail maintenance machinery across the Fortescue rail network.
- Secure all equipment in accordance with approved load restraint practices and relevant legislative requirements.
- Manage vehicle mass and weight distribution to ensure loads are compliant and transported safely.
- Comply with Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management, Heavy Vehicle Accreditation and Fortescue requirements.
- Maintain effective communication with supervisors, maintenance teams, planners and other key stakeholders while working remotely.
- Complete all activities in accordance with Fortescue’s Health, Safety and Environment policies, procedures and work instructions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ operational experience driving Road Ranger prime movers across a variety of off-road terrains.
- Demonstrated float and heavy haul experience transporting oversized plant and equipment.
- Previous experience within the mining or heavy haul industry, ideally in a FIFO/camp environment.
- Strong knowledge of fatigue management, Chain of Responsibility, load restraint and mass management requirements.
- Current MC Driver’s Licence, with the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s Medical and pass a CAT 3 Rail Medical.
- Strong communication and time-management skills, with the ability to work safely and independently, prioritise competing demands and demonstrate initiative.
