Roster: 4D/3R – FIFO ex Perth or DIDO ex Port Hedland

 

Fortescue is seeking a high-calibre Lead Planner to provide strong people leadership and functional direction across our Port Hedland operations.

In this key leadership role, you will be accountable for leading and developing the site planning team, embedding best-practice planning standards and driving a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement. You will ensure all maintenance work scopes are fully resourced, execution-ready and aligned to operational priorities through disciplined application of the Work Management Process.

Working in close partnership with maintenance, shutdown and operations leaders, you will play a central role in enabling safe, reliable and high-performing plant operations.

This is a high-impact opportunity to shape capability, uplift planning performance and directly influence asset reliability outcomes across site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop the planning team, building capability, succession and technical depth
  • Set clear expectations and performance standards across the planning function
  • Provide oversight and governance of the Work Management Process to ensure consistent, high-quality outputs
  • Drive effective backlog and forward log management, work prioritisation and schedule optimisation
  • Optimise fixed plant maintenance strategies to maximise plant availability and reliability
  • Monitor planning KPIs and implement improvement initiatives to enhance planning effectiveness and execution reliability
  • Champion safety, quality and compliance within all planned work scopes
  • Drive continuous improvement within planning processes to enhance efficiency and execution quality
  • Facilitate strong collaboration between maintenance, operations, contractor partners and stakeholders to ensure scopes are aligned, achievable and deliverables within agreed timeframes
  • Ensure accurate labour, materials, tooling and equipment requirements are identified and confirmed prior to execution

Qualifications and Experience

  • Significant experience in mining process plant maintenance planning
  • Strong technical understanding of fixed plant mechanical and/or electrical systems
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within a maintenance planning or reliability environment
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor and uplift team performance in a dynamic operational setting
  • Australian-recognised Mechanical or Electrical trade qualification
  • Cert IV in Maintenance/Asset Management (desirable)
  • Advanced working knowledge of SAP CMMS, MS Office Suite and MS Project
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation
