Roster: 8D/6R - FIFO ex Perth or Port Hedland Residential

Fortescue is seeking a driven and hands-on Process Engineer to join our high-performing Engineering team in Port Hedland. Working closely with Port Operations, Port Maintenance, Iron Bridge Concentrate Handling and Engineering teams, you will optimise critical materials handling processes and maximise throughput performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive process optimisation initiatives across port operations to improve throughput, sampling accuracy, moisture management and water usage.
• Develop and lead test work programs focused on sampling, material characterisation and system performance.
• Use process modelling, simulation and data analysis to support decisions relating to shipped moisture, water balance and product grade optimisation.
• Collaborate with Port Operations, Port Maintenance, Iron Bridge, Engineering and OEM vendors to identify and deliver process improvements.
• Act as the technical liaison across Port Operations, Engineering and the Iron Bridge Concentrate Handling Facility.
• Maintain high-quality technical documentation and process design deliverables while ensuring compliance with Fortescue’s Health, Safety, Environment and Quality standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree qualification in Chemical, Process or Metallurgical Engineering.
• 2–5 years’ relevant experience in process engineering, preferably within mining, materials handling or heavy industry.
• Sound understanding of bulk materials handling, water usage in processing environments and process optimisation principles.
• Experience using process modelling and simulation software.
• Proven ability to lead test work programs and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a strong safety mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
