Our Opportunity

Work Location: Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.

 

Roster:  4D/3R – FIFO ex Perth or Residential - Port Hedland

 

Reporting to the Port Superintendent Electrical, this critical leadership role is responsible for the safe and effective management of all isolation, tagging and permit-to-work activities across the Port.

 

You will be a visible safety leader, setting the standard for isolation and permitting excellence while protecting people, plant and production. This role is fundamental to ensuring safe execution of operations, maintenance and shutdown activities, and plays a key part in embedding Fortescue’s Safety Systems, Procedures, Vision and Values across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strong, hands-on leadership to a skilled and diverse team, working collaboratively with all Port teams to safely deliver operational, maintenance and shutdown works
  • Champion a safety-first culture by leading by example and ensuring consistent application of isolation and permit-to-work standards
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise daily activities for all isolation and permitting employees and contractors under your direction
  • Audit and verify all electrical and mechanical isolations to ensure full compliance with legislative, business and site requirements
  • Maintain critical working relationships with Shutdown, Maintenance and Operations teams to enable safe, efficient work execution
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and lead initiatives to strengthen isolation and permitting systems and processes
  • Develop and implement team development and succession plans to build capability and sustain high performance
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide coaching and support, and drive accountability within the team
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, Fortescue standards, procedures and relevant legislation

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and Experience

  • Trade qualification or similar (Electrical trade highly desirable)
  • Proven leadership experience within a processing plant, port or fixed plant environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing isolation and permit-to-work systems within the mining or heavy industry sector
  • Strong knowledge of procedural compliance, auditing and assurance for isolation and permitting activities
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a proactive approach to risk identification and control
  • Experience managing isolation and permit-to-work incidents and associated systems
  • Proven experience with electronic and hybrid permit-to-work systems
  • SAP system experience (desirable)
