Work Location: Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.
Roster: 8D/6R - FIFO ex Perth
Join Fortescue's Rail Systems team and play a key role in delivering projects across onboard locomotive systems, wayside infrastructure, and office-based operational systems. As the Project Supervisor, you will lead the successful delivery of multiple projects from concept through to commissioning and handover, providing technical leadership, coordinating contractors, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment, enjoys building strong stakeholder relationships, and is passionate about driving project outcomes that support the reliability and performance of our rail network.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Rail Systems projects from scope development through to commissioning and operational handover.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, milestones and delivery outcomes across multiple concurrent projects.
- Provide technical leadership across onboard locomotive, wayside and associated rail systems.
- Coordinate contractors and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with project requirements.
- Monitor project risks, performance and compliance with governance and engineering change processes.
- Prepare project reports and provide regular updates to stakeholders and management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Electrical or Communications Trade qualification, Engineering qualification, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in the rail or mining industry, ideally within heavy haul maintenance, construction or project delivery.
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex Rail Systems projects, including onboard and wayside systems.
- Strong technical knowledge of signalling, communications, networking, fibre optics, RF systems and onboard technologies.
- Sound understanding of project governance, risk management, engineering change processes and site access requirements.
- Proven leadership, contractor management and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to make autonomous technical and project delivery decisions.
