Our Opportunity

Location: Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.

Roster:  8D/6R

The role of the Electrical Engineer is to provide technical support and recommendations on electrical systems and components to improve the reliability and predictive maintenance tactics of the HME (Heavy Mobile Equipment) fleet within Fortescue operations. This role also supports the broader business in the development and integration of HME electrification and automation technologies.

 

A key responsibility is to implement proactive initiatives to improve asset health, reduce expenditure and eliminate risk from operational tasks specific to electrical and autonomous equipment.

Key Responsibilities

    • Daily interaction with supervisors and workshop personnel for “hands on” input into strategies and improvement ideas
    • Review and further interrogate daily, weekly, monthly reports and KPI’s to identify common faults and trends to apply problem solving and root cause analysis, with a continual improvement focus
    • Provide reliability support to all sites to ensure that equipment is being maintained in accordance with our maintenance strategies and WOL plans
    • Conduct RCA to identify root causes of major or chronic failures preventing or eliminating failures
    • Actively participate in the planning process to ensure that assumptions & targets are technically feasible (as applicable)
    • Propose improvement ideas based on detailed examination of anticipated or recurring issues of a technical or specialist nature
    • Identify and recommend critical spares that are required to ensure optimal performance of assets and their forecast maintenance plans

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering/related field
  • Experience in a heavy mobile maintenance environment desired
  • Experience in mineral processing environment or similar desired
  • Strong communication with a self-starter attitude
  • Knowledge of computerised maintenance management systems (e.g. SAP) desired
